This is exactly what my dad said….and ‘barbarism’….ya that’s for my taste of music!! Or may be a compliment to petrucci‘s awesome lead...

I mean…. come on… ‘Barbarism’??!!!…. I always thought these were synonymous to the likes of Chengiz Khan……or maybe I really do need to go through the band histories again….perhaps I missed out when they accused petrucci of genocide...

Well I had to reply back…

“Daaaad!!!!!…he is one of the greatest!!!!….how can you not like it???....just listen to him for a minute……”

That’s all I could retort back…

Not that I couldn’t fight back, just that I was in no mood whatsoever to try and explain to him…..didn’t want to miss that part…..

My mom had now joined the argument……

“INNER NOISE”????!!! Now what is that supposed to be….I had no clue…...it was a wake up call for me…had to brush up my English language…. (although I had heard of this word/phrase somewhere before….couldn’t recall where/why…and what it meant….)… your mind can play naughty games with you…. wanted to answer back.....but….couldn’t figure out……neither could I remember what it meant…Damn!!!!

I consoled myself…maybe it is something related to the human psychology…..physiology…acoustics??? Whatever it is….. : P

My mom by the way was quite happy about the fact that she had found me at a complete loss for words……

How could they be maligning someone …they had never heard before…

No…this cannot end like this…. ‘Fight back man…they call it names…what you have worshipped for all these years’……..I said to myself

Mom…….dad…. it’s a different genre altogether …. I can understand…. u not appreciating such stuff but that doesn’t mean, you see all these super talented people as diabolical creatures…. I have never come across any such thing which says…music should always be snail slow…. I believe it’s very hard to contain good music…or maybe define it…. And I guess a better part of the world appreciates what I am trying to listen to… definitely more people listen to DT or Floyd…then your RABINDRASANGEET….every song is a damn lullaby!!!!

Shiiiiiiiitttttttt!!!!! Why did I have to add the last statement…. ….

It had been such a mature and reasonable answer…short and to the point… I would have won this battle hands down…but now…all my hopes were surely going down the hole…..for I had ventured into unknown territory…rather the fact that my grandma was round the corner had simply missed me….

What came next, well I rather not write it here…. by the way my grandma spent quite a part of her life at shantiniketan….studying music?????!!!!.....at least her speech deserved that compliment ……….

This day……..I was cornered, and maybe on the wrong foot????!!……three people …who believe they know all about music….just because they are older and have seen a lot more of the world…(believe me every argument will eventually come to this…. So I didn’t take it anywhere)…and hence have the authority to pass judgments…

Redemption???!!….retribution??!!!…whatever it is shall happen….not the conventional way though……….. I have a master plan….. J
